Evening on the Grasslands
This view is the same road as in Autumn Reflections, except later in the year and late in the day. At the close of day was a profound quiet upon the land. I thought of early homesteaders living here near a dirt road but still a long wagon ride away from town, perhaps an all day ride. At any given time, except when cows are being rounded up, there is the silence of the land unless one stops to hear the breezes in the grass, the rustle of leaves in the aspen and firs, a distant crow calling, birds here and there.
